Pauliina Salminen & Andrés Jaschek
Pauliina Salminen and Andres Jaschek are media artists dealing with themes like changing identity, boundaries, urban environment. However big and serious the subjects might seem, their approach stays in a human scale, it is sensitive, and often humorous.
Salminen was born 1975 in Finland. She studied film and video at Turku School of Art and Communication, then decided to continue her studies in Marseilles, France, in 2000.
Jaschek was born in Argentina in 1977. He studied in the Arts Academy of La Plata, Argentina, and then moved to France for further studies.
Since the end of their studies, both artists have alternated making documentary films and video- and interactive installations. In addition to their personal work, they have carried out various projects together (The land in the middle in 2005, 2 x 3 borders in 2007). In their work, the audience is often involved since the beginning of the process, (such as in the participatory video projects Transportraits in 2008, Leave it and take it and The separating link in 2009), and again through interactive use in the exhibition.
They exhibit their work internationally (France, Finland, Italy, Tunisia, India, Argentina, USA… ). Their short videos as well as the mono-channel versions of their video installations are shown regularly in various festivals.
