The For You! project
The For You! project would like to stop passersby in order to bring them joy, insight and enthusiasm. You only need to be bold enough to approach art, to take it and to participate. It is For you!
The project is accomplished with the help of abandoned envelopes in which there are fragments from the Live Herring ‘11 Text | Sound |Technology | Information exhibition at the Jyväskylä Art Museum from February 22nd until March 6th. The person who finds the envelope, is invited to make their own art from the fragments inside.
The finder is asked to participate by bringing their creation back to the Art Museum. In this way, something collective can become personal and something personal can become collective. Something from the everyday can become something special, and something special can become part of the everyday.
The goal of this project is to surprise various passersby. To inspire. To invite them into the (new)media-art exhibition, to encourage further surprise and inspiration.
The project For You! will take place in Jyväskylä during the 9th week of this year. Rosa Ahokas and Maiju Laitanen from the University of Jyväskylä’s Department of Art and Culture Studies will be conducting this project. This project is part of the New Media-Art, Art Education course directed by Päivi Hintsanen and Soile Ollikainen of the Live Herring workgroup.
This project is conducted in the Finnish language.
